Impact isn’t just a metric — it’s a relationship.

We named Atharii after the Swahili word for impact because that’s what we care about most — real support, real outcomes, and the relationships that sustain them.

Why Now

The systems meant to fund social and environmental progress are breaking down.

U.S. federal funding aimed at climate action, civil rights, and international development is being actively dismantled. Programs labeled “equity,” “climate,” or “DEI” are under open attack. And global philanthropy is more competitive than ever.

On one side, community-rooted organizations are spending more time justifying their work than doing it — navigating shrinking grants, broken systems, and funders who favor familiarity over true impact.

On the other, funders are being told to do more with less, often without the proximity, relationships, or tools to respond effectively.

We built Atharii to bridge this gap.

Our Story

We met at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University — three people from different backgrounds, bonded by the same frustration: too many changemakers were stuck trying to navigate systems that weren’t built for them.

Each of us had spent years working in the field — across public health, gender equity, digital strategy, climate, and global development. We’d seen grassroots leaders reshaping their missions just to fit a grant. We’d seen funders prioritizing polish over purpose. We knew it didn’t have to be this way.

Since 2024, we’ve helped secure over $2 million in funding for community-rooted efforts in the U.S. Whether it’s Somali-led organizations tackling the opioid crisis in Minnesota or climate innovators developing automated oyster farming technology, we understand the nuances of funding, policy, and implementation - and we know how to move resources toward the people doing the work.

Because capital should follow justice - not just returns.

People-centered. Planet-conscious. Profit-smart.
